Violin Sonata in F MWV Q26

Unpublished until long after Mendelssohn’s death, the Sonata in F MWV Q26 was composed in 1838, while Mendelssohn was serving as the music director of the Leipzig Gewandhaus, and was intended for Ferdinand David, the concertmaster of the Gewandhaus. Yehudi Menuhin’s edition was the first to bring the sonata into print in 1953 and has remained popular with violinists. Contains a piano score and separate violin part.
