Prelude and Tarantella

In two sections, this new work by John Kinyon is a delightful concert piece and an ideal way to improve ensemble and musicality skills. Tutti chords in the placid and beautiful prelude present opportunities to work on ensemble intonation, then yield to running eighth notes handed off between instruments. In the traditional 6/8 meter and minor mode, the Tarantella is spirited and lively, with the percussion section driving the rhythm all the way to the climactic ending!
