Fantasy Concertante for Violoncello, Piano and Orchestra

Richard Dubugnon’s Eros Athanatos is a fantasy concertante for cello, piano and orchestra. This 24-minute piece is a free and jubilant praise of the greatest of all mysteries – our own existence. Commissioned by the West Australian Symphony Orchestra, with support from Jude and Barrie Le Pley, and Antwerp Symphony Orchestra, L’Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Stiftung Klavier-Festival Ruhr and the Beijing Music Festival Arts Foundation. The first performance took place on 12 October 2018 at Perth Concert Hall, Australia, with Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Gautier Capuçon and the West Australian Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Ludovic Morlot.
