Lament Of The Young Indian (clarinet And Piano)

Composed in 1949 by Henri Tomasi, Lament of the Young Indian is a piece for Clarinet and Piano accompaniment. This piece voices the lament of a young Indian, expressing nostalgia. It is quite sad with an Andante tempo and the harmonic motion is quite slow. Two cadenzas feature in this work, with the possibility to cut them out to make rehearsals easier. The piece finishes sadly on the main theme which is played on last time. Written for intermediate, Lament of the Young Indian player can be used as a contest piece or for a recital. Henri Tomasi also composed ‘Corsica Songs’ and ‘Five Profaning and Holy Songs’ for Clarinet and Piano.
