Midnight Caravan

Students will have no trouble imagining a camel caravan moving slowly through the desert on a moonlit night as they perform this solo. Written in A-B-A form, the right hand melody and the left hand accompaniment stay mostly in a C minor 5-finger position in the A section. The B section features blocked fifths in each hand moving to a variety of positions. Both sections feature the same rhythmic motive that helps create the mood and style of the piece.
