A lovely flute solo sets the stage for this creative new work from the pen of Michael Story. Some innovative harmonies set this composition above the rest. A contemporary yet reflective work, Migrations musically depicts African animals’ annual migration through the folk music of Kenya and Tanzania. The folk songs that inspired this work are “Masai Women from Kenya,” the gentle “Wagogo Soothing Song” from Tanzania, and the “Wagogo Marriage Ritual.” Cross cultural programming at its best! (3:40)
