Reduction for trombone and piano of this 2001 concerto written for the Minnesota Orchestra. Included are brief poems by Schwertsik (b. 1935) on each of the movements, chronicling a day in the life of the instrument. The concerto is a character study of the trombone, calling for legato, staccato, and sudden agility.
