Muddy Shoes Blues

Take advantage of the title and use it to evoke the image of shoes covered in thick, gooey mud in the minds of your students. This will help them feel the slow, blues style of this solo. Written in G major, it abounds with intervals of fifths, sixths, sevenths and octaves. The right hand uses a descending G major scale pattern, making the melody an excellent way to practice the fingering for this scale. Who said scales can’t be fun?
