Dating from around the early 1800s, this renowned folk song tells the tale of a riverboatman who longs to take an Indian Chief’s beautiful daughter far to the west, ‘cross the wide Missouri. This folksong, frequently arranged for choral ensembles, has been newly arranged for string orchestra.
