The Leaf and the Bird

This enchanting solo tells the story of how a bird teaches a leaf to “fly” from its branch. The whimsical lyrics enhance the gentle and flowing melody, which is written in Middle C position and divided between the hands. Harmonic thirds and fourths are used sparingly. Melodic and rhythmic patterns are repeated, helping young students learn and memorize the piece. The optional teacher duet provides rich harmonies and enhances the lyrical style of the piece.
