Torjussen: To the Rising Sun

The best known piano piece of Trygve Torjussen (1885-1977), the Norwegian composer and piano teacher, lyrically depicts the sun’s path through the sky, from the whisper of its rising to the brilliant climax of the noon day and on to its quiet setting. The wonderful, cantabile melody is highlighted beautifully in the left-hand register at the beginning.
